He broke up with me, although I begged him not to.

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
My boyfriend and me broke up about a year ago. All was fine, and then it all fell apart in space of a week. He broke up with me, although I begged him not to. A week later, I wrote him an e-mail telling him that although I still miss him, I will get over him and I want us to be friends. He replied, that he does not see the need in being friends with me, that I am a horrible person and that he would tell nasty things to my friends so nobody feels sorry for me.

Although he took back the last remark on request, I was devastated. I left the country for a year and for almost three month I was really really sad. After a while I started seeing other guys, but I had lost my respect for them, and never really fancied them.

I kept contact via e-mail with my exboyfriend, and he only kissed two girls since our breakup. He still e-mails me, although does not make any indications of asking me back.

Now after a year, I want him back. I still think about him every day. I have not seen him since our breakup, though I need to. I just cannot believe that feelings can deteriote into nothingness just like that!

What shall I do. Shall I risk looking the last bit of pride I have and ask him back?

Our Suggestion:
It's easier than you think. Become friends with him again first. Go out and do things together and ease your way back into it. You might find that over the last year, you've grown and he hasn't. You may find that you want him more than ever. But if you just go out as friends, you can find this all out without putting your ego on the line by asking him out.

Good luck!
