Do you have some advice for this person?

Hi there! i am a 19 year old female in college going into law enforcement. Until i am 21, i am in what is called the police explorer program. i really like one of my advisors over the explorer program. He just recently got divorced, has 2 kids and he is 25. i get to see him all of the time and it seems that he likes me. He suddenly started mentioning that he has an ex-wife now, because b4 i knew he was married. And i talk with him about things that no other explorer does. Only problem is, i dont know how to tell him that i like him. I'm afraid that if i asked him and he said no, that would ruin the relationship that we do have. But i want to be with him really bad and i want to tell him in a way that he could still say no, but not ruin our relationship. what should i do.thanks



Our Suggestion:
It may be that he likes you, it may not be. But the bigger picture problem here is that he's an instructor of yours. There are clear ethical rules against instructors dating their students, and for good reason. There's no way he could grade you fairly if he were dating you.

You're going to have to wait until you're out of the program, or you're going to have to quit the program (don't do it!), or you're going to have to find someone new that's available.

He knows all this, and I hope that you and he abides by the rules. It will make both your lifes a lot better.
