Visitor's Question:
I am 19 and my boyfriend is 20. After school ended 3 months ago we both went to Europe for a month. I travelled around europe with two girl friends and he stayed in Italy for a month to study italian.
I visited him twice and as soon as i visited him the first time he said that his female friend Heather (who goes to our same college) had spent the night in his room because she was too drunk to walk the 30 minutes home. They had been at a bar with classmates and he invited her to come back to his apartment to hang out.
He has two beds in his room and he says that they slept in their clothes with the light on. I know that he didn't cheat on me (no kissing or sex) but I'm still upset about this. I feel like it's wrong for him to have hung out with a girl, both of them drunk, until 2 am and then have her spend the night. And when he let me go through his Italy pictures there was a picture of them together. His arm was around her shoulders and her arms were clasped around his back and his stomach. I feel like this picture is wrong also. It looks like they're a couple.

Am i just being overjealous? I know he didn't cheat and he didn't hide any of this information from me. He says she was just a friend and it was his vacation and that's why he stayed out and drank a few times and hung out with Heather.

this is driving me crazy. please help me. Am I being crazy? or was it right for him to have her sleep over.

Our Suggestion:
To answer your first question, a little jealousy is founded, but not enough to drive you crazy... especially since he told you everything. It may have been a good thing for her to sleep over if she was drunk, she may have been in danger walking the streets of a foreign country in the early hours of the morning. If you are uncomfortable with the sleeping arrangement, that makes sense. I would recommend that you tell your boyfriend of your feelings and ask that if he is going to be a nice guy to exercise a little more judgement as to the boundaries of what may be acceptable.

To answer your second question (which I think I already did), if everything was innocent, it was alright for her to sleep over and be safe.

Best wishes,
Marc
