A lot of it depends on how long you have known the girl and how close your relationship is. If you have been going out for a year and are deeply in love, sex is less likely to ruin the relationship. On the other hand, if you have been going out for a month and you don't really know each other that well, sex could easily ruin the relationship. Sex is worth waiting for so that both partners feel completely comfortable with each other. If your girlfriend has doubts, I would advise waiting.
