We're Good Friends, I want to Ask Her Out

Do you have some advice for this person?

Visitor's Question:
Hey I've come to a choice, and I'd like a little advice.I've decided to ask out this girl that's really close out.I asked her out about 2 months ago and she said she needed a little time because she just broke up with a b/f after a long relationship, and wasn't saying yes or no.I'm 15 years old,and I don't have any expereince asking girls out,Every girl I've ever dated asked me out.

My plan get this is to try for a good mood time, and have decided on valentine's day. It's pretty corny I know but I think it'd be a good day.Now I'll tell you a little about me might help your advice.I'm not nervous talking to her or any of her freinds, and am freinds with all her freinds. But whenever it comes to giving her a call or on msn I cna feel the blood pounding.Im really nervous during that time, and would promise I'd never have to guts to ask her out face to face. We're gone to a few movies together and are really good freinds. But I freeze when it comes to that.

I was wondering what I should do?Or if there's an alternate way that I could do it that'd relax me a little more. This is gonna be my 1st time so I'm really nervous about it.Maybe a romantic way to do it,but at the same time taking a little pressure off.We seem to get along pretty good, and I really love her a lot.You should met her she's just amazing, and I'd give anything to go out with her.

I'd really appreciate you guys if you could give me some guidelines to follow it's a tricky situation.I personally was thinking a note that expressed how I felt but I dunno if that a good idea.WellI better get going I'd appreciate some advice thanx.

Our Suggestion:
It sounds like you're definitely on the right track - you're being good friends with her, spending time with her, going to movies with her. So really you are already spending the time with her! The next step is to 'kick it up' a notch into the more romantic arena.

I wouldn't go leaping into it suddenly. I would definitely get her a special present for Valentine's Day but I wouldn't necessarily go from being "quiet friends" until then just into full blown "tongue assault" :)

Instead, keep moving along in the next few weeks. Make sure you hug her hello and goodbye. That's a normal friends thing to do. Talk with her more. Make it normal to hang around her more. Go out to a movie, or grab a bit to eat.

Then, during one of those hugs goodbye, give her a kiss on the cheek. Just a friendly one, but see how she reacts. If that's OK then keep that up. If you go along that route, by the time Valentine's Day comes along you'll pretty much be dating already and the present will just be a part of that. One warning - NEVER get a girl a ring for valentine's day unless you are offering an engagement ring!! Girls are trained to see those ring boxes and think marriage. ESPECIALLY on Valentine's Day. So don't even head down that path, it causes a lot of unnecessary stress.
