You may not be experienced enough to make a life long commitment based on how you feel now, however. Some people fall in love many times before they find the right person. Your question doesn't suggest to me that you are head over heels completely in total love with this guy. That makes me think that you may love him but not as strongly as you need to before making a commitment. So, trust your feels and also listen to your mum!
