Counseling definitely neededSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: My "boyfriend" and I had a discussion the other night. We have been dating for 2 years now. We love being around each other, doing things together. We even grew up with the same circle of friends around our families, yet never met until 2 years ago. The problem is I have a 3 year old son. My "boyfriend" (I put quotation marks because...well, read on) My "boyfriend" has said that he doesn't feel like he's ready to be a Dad and that he doesn't know if he'll ever be ready. I will be 26 in August, he just turned 27 in January. He feels like time is "running out" for him, and he's said that he probably won't find anyone to date that hasn't already been married, or doesn't have children. So of course, this makes me feel pretty low. But, in my opinion, I think he would make a great Dad and I know he could do it. We are both Christians and he told me that he thinks he should know what we're doing after dating me for 2 years. He says God hasn't told him to "go for it" or anything. He has also told me that there is no one else that he wants to date. But, he has "friends" who are girls that call him and he goes out to movies with and out to eat. I don't know what to think of it all, but do you think it would benefit him to go to a Christian Counselor? He has also said that he has thoughts of suicide at times. I think he might have a "chemical imbalance" from what I hear from him. Please advise. Thank you. A. Our Suggestion: You definitely need to see a counselor. Most importantly because he has mentioned considering suicide. But also to help make some progress in your relationship. Please do this as quickly as positive, it is very important!
