Visitor's Question:
This question really purtains to my family, my dad does not like the guy I'm seeing, says I'm seeing too much of him and we only go out on the weekends. Even before I met him I was thinking about moving but just needed a little push of encouragement something my parents really don't know how to show. So to make everyone happy and stop the arguments I told my father I will be moving out at the end of the month and no not with the bf this made my father more crazed and said I'm going to ruin my life and how easy it is for the boyfriend to convince you to move. Now he's not talking to me. Is it wrong to want to have privacy with your boyfriend, is it wrong to be 23 and your father still controlling your curfew and no you can't spend the night? What should I do, lose the bf to please my father? Or see the possibilities with the bf dispite my father's wishes?

Our Suggestion:
Your father has overstepped his bounds by five years.

When you turned 18, you became a free adult to do what you please. Obviously your parents could cut off your support if you displeased them.

So, your idea of moving out is a very wise decision. It removes the issue of your parents supporting you and gives you the long deserved freedom to do as you please.

I wish you the very best!
George
