Our Suggestion: It's really common for exs that part on reasonably good terms to keep fond memories of each other, especially if they stay friends. You two were together, you shared a lot of good times. Fond memories are one of those special things in life that is yours alone and can keep you warm on a cold, lonely day. If he's actively telling you that he wishes your relationship hadn't ended, and neither of you are seeing someone now, it sounds like it might be worth persuing. Have a talk with him about what caused you to break up - what were the issues. It might be that the issues are long gone or that you're both much more able to deal with the problems now.
