we are going in different directionsSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: my b/f and i have been together 4.5 yrs. lived together for 1.5 yrs but that didn't work, he hit me, but hasn't since.we break up every week it seems, and he's tried to kill him self because of it. im scared he'll do it again. im thinking of ending it totally, but i have thought this for a long time. i just cant do it, he makes it so hard he is obsessive. i care about him but we are not compatable, we are going in different directions. i am so confused. i want to be single, but i also want to see if there is anyone else out there for me, which i do have one in mind that just this week gave me his phone number and i took it not telling him im in a relationship. how do i go about getting out of this relationship? what if i make a mistake? im a sucker for his sad face and guilt trips, what can i do to stay confident when breaking up, and not give in to his begging and crying? please help me!!! Our Suggestion: Your relationship is wound up so tight that it is going to be very difficult to unravel it. Your breakups seem to have become a bad habit between you and we all know how hard it is to break bad habits. He knows all the tricks to keep you in his grasp and understandably you don't want to live that way anymore. This situation is so difficult that my advice is for you to see a marriage counselor alone and then if necessary bring him also. It is especially important to have a professional at hand since he is suicidal. If you can avoid telling him do so since he will probably talk you out of it. My best wishes are with you!
