Visitor's Question:
i've been with my boyfriend for 3 years now and we loe each other madly. He got a problem with that thing called "lies". He hates all kinds of lies even if it's for silly things,he warned me once be4 but we had a quarrel 1 week ago and i got angry and nervous and that day i got out with my friends and when he called them 2 ask about me (i didnt answer my cell phone) i asked them 2 say that:i'm not with them ...I Lied...but i sweared 2 him that i was out of my mind and that anger blinded me and i didnt think at that moment i lied 2 him BUT He is hurt and disappointed and he said he can't continue living with me coz i'll lie again and again....
Dear love, i swear i didnt mean to lie and even if i did , it was a mistake and i'm away from him now and i feel tormented coz i hurt him and i destroied our dreams , When i told him that i learned my lessoon and that this wud be the last time i lie to him (and i really mean this,i will never lie 2 him again ,that's what i decided 2 do coz i cant live without him) but he asks me:"WHAT MAKES ME BELIEVE U AGAIN? WHAT GUARANTEE THAT U'LL NOT LIE AGAIN?? HOW CAN I BELIEVE U AGAIN, U SAID THAT LAST TIME AND U LIED AGAIN!"
that's what he says and i really need ur advice of what i can do 2 win his trust once again and prove 2 him that i wont lie again ever...what shall i do?

Our Suggestion:
If you want to tell him the truth, tell him you will lie again.

It's just human nature to lie every once in a while. He is uptight and controlling on this issue. He needs to lighten up and get into the real world where everything is not so neat and pretty.

Unfortunately, he is the way he is and probably won't change. Maybe someone in his childhood made lying a BIG CRIME. Now, I am not defending lying, I'm just saying it happens to all of us once in a while and shouldn't be a hanging offense.

Good luck to you if you can get this message across to him and he accepts it. It won't be easy for him to break a habit of long lasting, but you shouldn't have to be the sufferer of his problem.

Best wishes,
George
