Visitor's Question:
I was engaged to a man who I thought was winderful. He told me everything I wanted to hear, but WE were getting in way over our heads buying things that we didn't need, but he told me that if I didn;t buy them he would leave me. Everything came out one day when my parents found out that I bought him a motorcycle. When I tried to talk to him, instead of talking, he immediately broke it off leaving me $30,000 in debt. His parents said they would help, but nothing.

It has been two years since this has happened. I go out on dates, but I have a hard time not comparing a new guy to him. Why do I do this and how can I change it. I accepted my faults in the relationship, and I don't want to carry that burden in new relationships. Also, because we live in a smaller community, people know what happened, and I don't want to be judged for who I was when I was with him. Help!!

Our Suggestion:
My advice is for you to see a professional counselor who can advise you after several long talks.

You fell for a "bad" guy and still can't get him out of your mind. My guess is that you were so much under his spell that you didn't take him to court.

Don't worry about what people think... they will judge you by your present behavior.

My best wishes are with you!
George
