I think he is just being careful and trying not to jump into somethingSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: Well, long story short: I have known this man at the gym for quite some time and we were just casual freinds until just recently when I broke up with my boyfreind of 2.5 years. (I didn't love him, so it was time to move on since I have been having feelings for this other guy). Word got around at the gym that I was single, and the guy that I have been interested in was tlaking to me for the first time since my break up and out of the blue asked me that I was more than welcome to come hang out with him and his freinds and go to see a movie. I was completely shocked b/c I have never imagined in my wildest dreams that he would ever invite me to hang out with him. Turns out that plans were cancelled b/c the freinds had other plans. The next weekend he just randomly text mailed me on my phone asking me that I was more than welcome to join him and his son to go see a movie. That plan failed because his son got sick. But that night we talked on the phone for over an hour, getting to know each other like new friends do. Asking about siblings, how old we were, his favorite color is yellow, he just bought a bike and would like to take me out on a ride on it sometime, his son is 11, etc. etc. I kinda thought that inviting me out with his son was a big step from just going out with freinds. But I could be reading into it too much. The next night he invited me to call him while he was baby sitting his sisters children. It was very cute to hear him tlaking baby talk on the other line while we were on the phone. I am still surprised that he has opened up so quickly and is so comfortable making baby noises to his nephews while a friend he just got to know is on the other line. Very interesting. Since then, and that was a week ago, I have refrained from calling him because he just started a new job and has been very busy and exhausted. I have texted mailed him a couple times just to see how he has been doing, and he wouldn't reply with much. Perhaps because he is tired. At the same time, every reply back to me he has sent me text mail as "urgent" messages. I'm not sure if his phone is broken or if that is a sign. But I am trying to take this slow and as a growing freindship before a relationship. I have been very careful not to open up too much because I don't want to push him away. he is an older man, with a child, and looking for a woman to settle down with. He is very unique and special to me, but I won't admit that to him yet. Not at this stage. What has been driving me crazy is that I can't tell if he is just being freindly (b/c he is a people person and a freindly guy) becuase he knows what it feels like to be alone after a breakup (or divorce in his case), or if he is interested in me. My friends think so, but they are confused by the fact that when he invites me out, he always adds, "you are more than welcome to come," or "if your bored, give me a call". Personally, I think he is just being careful and trying not to jump into something. But what are your thoughts? Our Suggestion: I think he is being careful. Just as you are playing it cool, so is he. In fact he may be following your lead. Maybe if you open up a little more to him he will do the same. He is encouraging you by asking you to drop him a call if your bored. Best wishes to you!
