Different religious backgroundsSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: Hi, I have this male friend that I've known for a year now. About 2 months ago, he started telling me that he has feelings for me & that he can see us having a future together one day. At 1st I didn't make a big deal of what he said even though I had feelings for him cuz I thought he was kidding. After he continued saying stuff like that to me over the course of 2 months, I sorta started thinking, hey! this might actually work. We have a lot in common & we had similar life experinces & we get along well & we accept each other for who we are. Problem is we come from 2 different religious backgrounds. His family would flip out if we ever ended up together. Even though his family & my family have the same religion now, but the problem is my history. Eventually, I started using my brain again & told him that this will not work out & that I don't wanna get hurt. cuz his family expects certain things from him & I don't see myself fitting in. He agreed & we decided to just continue being friends & to never discuss anything that concerns "us". It sure felt bad to do that cuz I liked him & still do like him a lot & what sucks even more is that things are weird between us now. He barely calls & he sounds different... sorta distant. I wish there was a way for us to work & wish he'd just go back to his old self. I don't understand why he's so cold with me know. Please tell me what to do to make things right between us. Tell him it's hard to ask but you want to know because you still care about him. And, I wonder how you know that his parents would disapprove? Ask him about that too.
