Visitor's Question: ok so theres this boy that i like and we're sort of friends. i talk to him and we have interesting conversations. the thing is hes nice to everyone and i know he doesnt like me. i know he doesnt like me because im overweight and not pretty. the one good thing about me is that im not shy and im smart. and he.... well hes not cute least not in the normal sense and all of my friends think i should ask him out. i think hes going to say no and cant bear to be rejected. i would die if our friendship was ruined or the whole school knew i like him. what do i do?? oh and im 13 too Our Suggestion: You don't know for a fact that he doesn't like you. You are just guessing. So, you should ask him out. And, get used to rejectiion because life is full of it. If he rejects you that will be good experience for future rejections. Life is also full of acceptances so don't assume he will reject you. As far as the rest of the school is concerned don't worry about them. If they even notice that you like him 99% of them will not pay any attention. Don't live your life worrying about what other people will think or say. Do what is best for you. When you ask him, expect him to be a little shocked. Most boys your age are not used to dating and are scared of girls. So don't be surprised if he doesn't know what to say right away. If he babbles, tell him you will let him think about it and ask him the next day... and then be sure to do it. Your smart enough to know this is good advice, it's just up to you to build up the courage to follow thru. As far as losing his friendship, that is a risk you will have to take.
