Girl friend wants a breakSuggest AdviceDo you have some advice for this person? Visitor's Question: My girlfriend of a 1 1/2 years and I broke up about 2 months ago and just recently started talking to me again. We broke-up because she needed space, and I wanted to spend more time w/ her because during the summer we were both busy and didn't see eachother often. We spent the past 2 months WITHOUT saying a word so she could have space and make new friends (we are both at different schools). After 2 months - October and November - w/o talking, she text me saying basically: we haven't talked for a while, but that she was wondering how I was doing and seeing if I was ok. I was very happy to get her text and i wrote back and we had a brief but pleasant conversation. Towards the end of the relationship, we had a few bad arguments and I said some hurtful things, as did she (mostly because of the frustration that we were not spending much time together). She claimed that it was a sign that we shouldn't be together anymore. We had a very special loving relationship and were best of friends, and I really want to have the special relationship back. NOT just an "average guy" friendship with her because she is the one I want to be with later in life. I really want to be together again and I know there is a chance still. How often should I call, and what should I do to show her that I still care about her WITHOUT being pushy? How can I show her that I have grown from my mistakes and that we can be friends, and eventually start a relationship again. Our Suggestion: Call her once a week. Ask her how she is doing, tell her you still care for her. Be cheerful, don't talk about your relationship, and limit the call to 15 min. This will let her know how you feel without being pushy. Good luck! George --Your Friendly Advisors at RomanceClass.com
