The First Time
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old FemaleDo you bleed when you first have sex?
RomanceClass.com AdviceMaybe, maybe not. I just answered this question for someone else :) What causes that bleeding is the ripping of the hymen, a thin membrane (thin like your eyelid) that covers part or all of a girl's opening. That tissue gets broken by TONS of things naturally. You can break it riding a horse, riding a bike, using a tampon, you name it. It is super strong in some girls, rather weak in other girls. So what might break it for one girl wouldn't necessarily break it for another.
A doctor could tell you if it was broken or not, but really it doesn't matter at all in any real sense. Even some girls who have it don't notice at all when it breaks during their first sexual encounter, because it is so thin and it just doesn't bleed much. So it's not like it "proves anything" to have it or not have it rip.
