How to ask to the prom?

There is this guy that i like his name is Jacob and i danced with some at the dances but i want to ask him out but i dont know how i am just scared that he is going to say no..he was telling me that he is not going to go to the prom if he does not have a date some people were like ask him ask him...but i dont really knoe...it is just weird...some one help me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You have a perfect opening here! Take a hold of it! Since he doesn't have a date yet, then you can go up to him and say, "hey, I heard you don't have a date, and I don't have a date, and I'd rather go with a friend than with some dumb guy. Want to go with me?" This way if he says no, then it's not like you were looking for -him- to go with you, you were just looking for a friend. It keeps you from looking foolish if he turns you down, and you get to go with him if he takes you up on it!
