Jealous of friend

Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
Hi,

My mother in law 'to be' is going out with this man for 3years now and he has a son that got married recently, and i know his wife because we are friends!

Ok thing is this girl has no "real" relationship with my mother in law ie. she is not her daughter in law! yet i get very jealous and almost heartbroken at the fact that she calls her mammy and my mother in law calls her daughter!

i am not saying that i dont get on with my mother in law because i really do, we are very close yet this girl is alot closer, i understand she has been thru more (she lost a baby and is preg again) and thats why i would never harm their relationship. am i been stupid? why does this matter so much to me?

we decided to build a house and she decided to get preg and yet again the "spotlight" was off us straight away!

am i jealous of her, but how can i be if i really like her too? why do i care?

any advice for me?

annmarie

You are naturally jealous of the relationship because you want to have a closer relationship yourself. This seems to be a perfectly normal reaction to the situation. Best you can do is to just go on with life and try as hard as you can to play with the cards you have were dealt.
