He needed space, and now he expects me to move on
Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old FemaleI was with my boyfriend for 6 years. During those years,, we talked about getting married and we thought we'd be together forever (not just me - many times his suggestion). At the time, we just didn't have the money, as we were both students. Last year I had to go away for school, and he started working. We kept doing the long distance thing and we talked every day on the webcam, and we visited each other every couple of weeks, and holidays. When we spoke we still seemed so in love and when we saw eachother nothing had changed. But then a couple months ago, he told me that he didn't feel the same way he used to. He still loved me, but just not at the same level. What does that mean? We agreed to work on it, he said maybe he was just overly busy with work. We went away to Europe in the summer and I thought things had gotten a lot better. Things seemed great until last week, when after cuddling with me and being nice all day, he says ... we need to talk. He said he didn't know what he wanted, he needed space, and now he expects me to move on. Am I crazy to hope he'll come back? I love him with all my heart and can't imagine not being with him.
RomanceClass.com AdviceIt's only been a week.
More time has to pass before you will be able to determine what is in his mind and heart.
Meanwhile call him once a week to find out how he is doing, to let him know you still care, and to maintain contact. Don't discuss your relationship. Be cheerful and limit the call to 15 mins. This will give him his space while you get some contact.
Hope this develops in your favor.
Good luck! George
