Jealousy and Envy:
Building Self Esteem:
I have a Dilemma
It seems like every time I am attracted to a certain someone, things start to flop. Well, I am hoping this man I am attracted to will be the one, or will be my first boyfriend at least. I am 20 years old, I never dated, and I need something new to do with my life. Here is where the dilemma takes place.
The man I see more than as a friend is in a band. He is cool as hell and he is not the type to choose any girl to screw around. He definitely showed me that I can trust him because we’ve been talking for over a year. I am starting to know more about him and I like what I see. However, there are always a few problems with something like this.
My best friend likes him or should I say obsessed with him for over a year. The man knows that she likes him, but doesn’t see her that way. Here are a few reasons why. 1) Last November, she snapped at him because he didn’t take the time to reply to all of her messages. Considering that he is busy all the time with work and band practice, of course he is not going to take the time to respond to her messages; especially over something that isn’t “replyable”. 2) From his Myspace page, she is talking to his friends, mostly girls to be exact, and adding them to her profile. The man doesn’t like it one bit because it seems too damn creepy and I agree. 3) Almost everyday, she sends him text messages and he feels obligated to respond to them because she snapped at him. This really frustrates him because he is at work or at band practice. Sometimes she’ll text him when he is on vacation and that annoys the hell out of him. 4) He told me that she is annoying. 5) While me and a couple of my friends were at my apartment, the man mentioned that he would never kiss a girl with bad teeth. Unfortunately, she was born with bad teeth. 6) She freaks him out. Of course she will because of basically everything I have mentioned earlier. She really scared him when she and he were sending text messages to one another and he mentioned something about making out and she replies “well I will make out with you” and that just threw everything out.
From what I mentioned, this makes him sound like a jerk; however, he and I had this conversation before and it is bothering him in full force. I really want them to go out because I want to see her happy, but personally, I feel that her dreams to be with him will never ever happen. Not only because of what he mentioned earlier, but it is because she is not a social person and he is very social. I think she is agitated that he is talking to me more than he talks to her. She believes that people should talk to her like people talk to me, but how can she get the same effect from everybody else when she only stands there and stare at people? Anyways, this frustrates the hell out of me because again, I am starting to like the man more than as a friend. People say that I have more chances with him than she does, but that is what people said about the last guy I was attracted to and he turned out to be a womanizer and played games with my emotions. Besides, the man has his eyes on someone from Texas and they’ve known each other for three years. Though he will not admit it, but there are signs that give it away. He has pictures of her on his Myspace profile, a default picture on his cell phone, and a picture frame of her sitting on his dresser. IF he and I were dating, it would be a problem because of my best friend. So I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
