he's a shy guy who is unsure of what he wants
Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old FemaleI'm a senior in high school and so is the guy that I like. I heard he wanted to go to the sadie hawkins dance with me so i decided to ask him. Many people told me they thought he liked me and the two of us flirted in school all the time. He had called me a few times before and invited me to parties but then ended up not being able to go at the last minute. He's very shy and has never had a relationship and according to his friends he doesn't ever pursue girls. At the dance he made it very clear he had attraction to me. We danced the entire night and he held my hand while we were walking and looked into my eyes. He opened doors for me and he seemed nervous when other guys approached me. He had his arms around me the entire night. After the dance we had a party at my friend's house. An older guy came over and started hitting on me. My crush then came over and put his arms around me and led me into a different room, telling me to stay there until he asked the older guy to leave. He said "that guy is hitting on you and he is a creep". My crush kept finding me with the older guy and eventually got very angry and told the older guy "you are making everyone uncomfortable. you need to leave". My crush then went home very agitated and acted distant to me for the next week. A friend of mine asked my crush's friend if he likes me and his friends responded "He doesn't want a relationship since we are about to graduate. He doesn't really pursue girls. i think they're just friends". I am very confused. Do you have any advice on what he might be thinking or what I should do?
RomanceClass.com AdviceObviously what happened at the party bothered him a lot.
He is very shy so he had to come out of his shell to tell this guy off. Now he feels bad about having to tell off an older guy and he probably thinks that you are ashamed of him for what he did.
Next time you talk to him tell him how proud you were about his behavior at the party and that it made you feel cared about. Remind him that fun doesn't end when school is over... there is the wonderful summer of senior year which can be a great experience if you have someone to share it with. If you want to, tell him you would like to spend the summer with him.
Sometimes a guy just needs a pep talk to get himself back together.
Good luck! George
