Who is Right?
Visitor's Question from a 51-60 year old FemaleMy husband and I went to the Casino and I won $400. I gave him $200. from the winnings. Since he lent me the $200. to play he feels entitled to his $200. plus half of the winnings which would be an extra $100. leaving me with $100. I believe 50% of the total winnings is fair. This is a big issue between us and he threatened to break the relationship since according to him, I am extremely selfish and a taker. Please take into consideration that he just came into a large amount of money and has a steady income. I am unemployed with no income.
Please help by letting us know what would be the fairest way to split this winning.
Hoping professional advise will calm his irraltional anger and hurt.
Thank you.

RomanceClass.com AdviceMy solution won't make either of you happy but it's the best I could come up.
First, imagine a situation where he loaned you $1000 and you won $50,000. Naturally you would pay him back the $1000 and then offer to give him some of the $50,000. You wouldn't give him half because that is too much. Maybe you'd give him $10,000 which is a bundle but, hey, you are husband and wife.
So you should give him his $200 back and give him part of the winnings. I'd say give him $50 so you aren't hogging all of the winnings. He shouldn't expect to get half because that is too much.
Hope this helps! George
