It seems like she likes me, but sometimes it's hard to tell
Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old MaleI met this girl while working on a play a few months ago. We almost instantly became great friends, and I quickly found out that we shared a several of the same interests - we both like theater, literature, the same music, etc. and we have the same sort of philosophy on life. However, I'd always sort of admired this girl from afar and I like her as more than a friend. Sometimes I get the same feeling from her, since she's rather willing to share her personal feelings and problems with me, and I've often suggested that we should get together and do something sometime, like watch a movie or go see a play. She always sounds willing, and I'm never too forward (no "Want to go on a date?" or anything like that), but when I try to get specific or even ask for her phone number, she starts to dodge the issue and I never get a straight answer out of her. We go to different schools and communicate mainly online, though when we worked on the play together we talked face-to-face a lot and hugged a lot towards the end. What should I do to take the next step? I'm tired of hitting this brick wall, and I really would love to spend more time with her, even if it was just as a friendship thing for a while, but I don't want to be too forward and scare her away as she is really important to me.
RomanceClass.com AdviceAre you sure she doesn't have a boyfriend? That would explain a lot.
But you share a lot so you would probably know it if she did.
I'm not sure how specific you have been with her about where to go. It would not be too forward to mention a specific movie, date, and time and that you would pick her up (if you have access to a car).
Tell her you are asking her out as a friend so that she won't be scared away.
Good luck! George
