He Wants to Enjoy College
Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old FemaleSo, my ex and I dated for half a year and broke up. Later on we got back together but he doesn't want anything serious because we're going to different colleges. He says that he still wants to be friends with me but the problem is that I still love him. I want to be with him but I realize he wants to mess around in college.
Should I be upset with him? Does that mean he doesn't really care about me? I do really love him and he knows it. I'm just not important?
RomanceClass.com AdviceIt is extremely natural and normal for people to want to experience all that college has to offer. One only goes to college once - and those college days define us for the rest of our lives. College is the thing people look back to in their 50s and 60s and remember with fondness. So he wants to make the most of this brief moment in time.
If you two were meant to be, college is over in the blink of an eye. And when it's done, it's done.
The more you try to interfere, the more he'll resist. So my advice is to let him sow his wild oats. You should pursue your own dreams whether they're music or art or writing or something else.
When college is done with, if you two were meant to be, you have your entire lives to be together. And if in the meantime you find someone else you adore more than him, then you'll know your ex wasn't meant to be your final one and you can be grateful for the time you had together.
