My Boyfriend Broke Up
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old FemaleMy boyfriend and i had been together for two and a half months. i will be 17 may 15th and he will be 20 june 4th. he talked about marriage and a kid, before said anything about it. we recently broke up. he said that we were going to remain friends. he lives with my aunt, and i go there almost every week-end. he said he didn't trust me, after a short pause, he said yet. he said he still loves me, and i love him. i have never been with a guy longer than three weeks before him. i normally get bored with the guy. but this was different. i want him to be happy, and if that means apart from me, then so be it. but after the break up, we sat in the living room and talked like we always do. it was so nice, but when i had to leave, it was hard not giving him a hug or a kiss. i dont know what to do. i am scared that while i am with my dad in the summer, i will lose all touch with him if he moves or gets a new girl friend. i want to know if the "yet" means we might get back together. i dont know why he doesnt trust me. we had decided on a mon. that i would go over and spend the night on sat. like normal. but my cousin didnt want me to come over. he might have been joking when he said that, but i had a bad week and didnt want to put up with any bs. so i went to my friends house, he was at work, so i couldnt call him to tell him. please help me. i really miss being with him. he made me happy. just tell me what i should do. or if you think there is a chance of getting back with him. my family said he just wants to control me, but he hasnt tried so far, and i dont think that is the case, because i dont put up with that. we were always equal when we were together. many thanks.
RomanceClass.com AdviceIf you guys were together for 2 1/2 months, why doesn't he trust you? You guys were going out. That meant he trusted you at least at that point. Something must have happened to cause you to break up. For him to say vague things like "I don't trust you" is unhelpful. He needs to actually have a serious talk with you and explain WHY he feels this way. Is it that he's insecure and thinks you'll run off with someone else because he's not good enough for you? Is it that one of his friends just cheated on someone and he worries about that? Unless he's able to discuss the issue, it'll never get fixed. And if he can't even talk about these "easy" issues - he won't be able to deal with more serious issues that come up in life. It's time for him to get serious about handling issues.
