How can I get him to give me a chance?
Visitor's Question from a 13-15 year old FemaleI am 14. I have really liked this guy for 3 years. I've always wanted to be his girlfriend. We soon became best friends. Last year, I made the mistake of following another friend's advice and writing him a note telling him how I really felt. It was probably not the first time he heard it, because all of our friends knew. He wrote back, telling me that he didn't want a girlfriend yet, he didn't want to ruin our friendship, and that he didn't have the money to take a girl anywhere. I still like him. He doesn't know that. I have asked 2 guys and a girl what to do. One guy said to talk to him. He said that guys love it when you tell them that you like them. The other guy and the girl said he might like me, but they didn't really know. We are still close friends, but I've never really talked to him seriously. How can I get him to give me a chance?

You should already have the lines of communication open so that you can talk about anything. So use those communication channels. Take him to a quiet area sometime and ask him what he thinks about you. He'll hedge, of course, but you want to know whether he thinks there could be something more than what there is. If he says flat out no way, then you should probably be quiet about your feelings. If he says that maybe there's a chance, then it's the perfect opening to say that you'd like to give it a chance and that you think you and he are well suited for one another.
