Rude sister-in-law
Visitor's Question from a 31-40 year old FemaleMy brother'n'law and his family live around the corner from us and they have three children, two girls and a son. We have one child, a son. Our son gets on good with their son
and I take our son around there to play, but sometimes find
it diffcult because my sister'n'law can be rude in some comments she saids, which is a shame for my son and nephew.
We just saw them last week, but she was rude (not overly
rude)Suppose to go over there again this week but I dont want to, my Husband wonders why I dont want to go over there. If I say anything, he thinks I'm complaining, and I
dont want to start any big fights between any of us. At the
moment I'm going to keep my distance for a few weeks, but
what do you think I should do in the long run?
RomanceClass.com AdviceThis forum is for romantic problems, but I'll take a shot at answering your question.
The long term solution is to get your s-i-l to change her rude behavior, or for you to ignore it. It is very difficult to get someone to change their behavior. Here is a possible approach... when she is rude say "ouch that hurt." But I suspect that you will just have to live with her rude behavior.
Not a very helpful answer, but the best you can do without raising a ruckus.
Good luck,
George
