I mean there's a well known saying 'the grass is always greener on the other side'. Your other relationship split up for a reason so you just need to accept that and move on with your life - don't waste your time on something that probably isn't worth it. Concentrate on the good points of your current relationship and see how it goes. I felt touched by your question because it made me think of a very good friend of mine. He split up with a great girl who he was totally in to, he never stopped talking about her and me and all his friends thought she was a great girl too (we're still friends with her) to get back with his ex who is by all accounts a nasty piece of work and not even attractive to boot, but for some reason she had some kind of hold over him - none of us could understand it. A few months later he realised he'd made a really stupid mistake; he came to the realisation that this girl was not nearly so amazing as he'd imagined. He wanted the other girl back but by that time she'd moved on. He was totally devastated and is still kicking himself for it over a year later. Think about the future and not the past!
