i have a question. i have been with my girlfriend for 3 months now. we have done wonderful things, and well our relationship is perfect, but what i really came to ask, is that, she still talks to her ex, and i dont want her too. is it wrong if i do? i mean, he has broken her heart alot of times, and he still wants to get back with her. Help?

User Submitted Advice from a 21-30 year old Male

I agree with the advice posted on here, However, it's easier said than done. A lot of guys just play the sympathy card w/ their exes so that if the ex ever has a fight w/ their Current boyfriend, they can swoop in with the comforting and understanding expressions and basically woo her into bed. At least that's my opinion.

I might sound paranoid, but it really bothered me the way my girlfriend talked to her ex fairly often, and other than That, we too have an absolutely perfect relationship. SO I made a deal with her (he lives 2 hours away): don't hang out with him in person, even if he calls you up to say he's in town, make up an excuse, and if she ever puts precedence over him instead of me, then she has to stop talking to him, otherwise I'm gone.

All my friends told me that was way too controlling, but since then she's never told me she'll call me back because she's talking to HIM when i call, she's never met w/ him, and although she does still talk to him now and then, I hardly even know he exists now, and our relationship is better than ever. SO i guess everybody has different things that work for them, but finally putting my foot down and setting some rules for exes has really improved my relationship.
