Not sure if I want him back, but I am sure that I miss him...ALOT...now more than ever and it's been a year

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
I started going out with my ex back when I was 17. We broke up when I was almost 19. It was a whole year and a half relationship and the longest I've ever had at that! He was my first love. It's been almost a year since we broke up. He had a new girlfriend the last I heard (months ago) and I've had numerous boyfriends. I'm currently with someone for the past 7 months. Lately, I do nothing but think of my ex though. I'm not quite sure why. But the other day a song came on the radio that reminded me of how much I still loved my ex and it made me cry. I was crying for a good hour. The last time my ex and I talked was maybe about 5 or 6 months ago. We do not talk anymore, but I wish we would. The relationship went smooth then we broke up once, got back, and broke up again 6 months later. This is the longest we been apart. My parents don't like him, and he did a lot of messed up things to me. I shouldn't really miss him at all. He should be the one missing me because of how good I was to him. Why do I miss him so much and why now more than ever? It's almost like I want him back again. I haven't thought about him for a while until about a month or two ago. Why is this happening? And if I were to try to get him back, how would I go about this? Should I even try? We almost got a place together. Now I live with my current boyfriend, and he doesn't know about any of this. I'm a big mess, please help.

RomanceClass.com Advice
It's often a problem to let go of an ex. Especially if he was your first boyfriend. A tight bond exists between first loves.

A good thing to do is to realize that first loves are special and that they usual end in breakups. So, what a lot of people do is to work hard at accepting that the relationship is over. You probably will always remember him and even have a tiny bit of love for him over the years, but that does not mean you should try to get back with him. When it's over, it's over.

Good luck! George
