How do I break up with someone I already live with?
Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old MaleI've been with my girlfriend for one year and 5 months now. I thought my feelings would never end for her. We've lived together for only a month and I'm not sure that was the right decision. I don't feel strongly for her anymore and I feel like I'm letting her AND her family down. We all get along so well, they helped us move in and everything. And now I feel terrible that I left this until the very end. I thought these feelings would end but I still feel like breaking up.
I feel so confused over this whole thing. On top of it all I am having soaring dreams about another girl, which is not helping. I don't know if I should get out of this relationship asap to be fair to my partner or wait until I know what's right. Maybe I'm just getting used to this routine. Is it my nerves that are simply getting used to being with her in a house 24/7? Am I missing the bachelor life? I'm incredibly anxious right now. Please help!
RomanceClass.com AdviceYou have presented a good description of your situation... of the problems and the possibilities. Your girlfriend must have noticed the change in you by now and is wondering what is wrong.
You need to discuss this with her and be completely honest. Your concerns are all valid and she needs to hear them. This will probably make her sad and will probably end up in a break-up. But that is better than living miserably. You are doing her no good by keeping secrets from her.
If you want to and can arrange it, a couple therapist could help. But I think it has gone beyond that now.
Sorry you are in this situation.
Good luck! George
