Girls are Scared Because I'm Deaf
Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old MaleI'm deaf and 21. There are many girls who like me and they think I'm hot or cute! But in some situations there are some girls who get afraid of being around me because I'm deaf or something. Sometimes girls would spot me and come up to me, then the next minute I tell them that I'm deaf...they run off.
What's the deal here? Are they afraid of communication or don't appreciate me being deaf? How can I solve this? How can I come up to those girls without having them run away?
RomanceClass.com AdviceThat's a real shame that they run away! That is very immature of them. They probably are embarassed because they don't know what to do and so they retreat. Still it's no excuse for treating you like that.
As much as I think they are completely at fault here, you might try softening the "scare factor" for them. Instead of just saying "I'm deaf", say something like "I lip read, and you have lovely lips". Draw them into a game of showing you can guess what they're saying even if they speak really quietly.
Surely most of us have a relative or two that is hard of hearing. That isn't scary at all. If they realize that you are not an alien - just a person who has a minor problem that you are quite capable of coping with - they might enjoy the flirting and the time with you.
